Used as primary language by all ages in 3 villages, but nearly extinct in the 7 others. Some of all ages. All also use Hausa [hau]. Asu use has shifted to Hausa in 7 of the 10 villages (Decker et al 2021e). Most also use Nupe-Nupe-Tako [nup] (Decker et al 2021e).
Vocabulary heavily influenced by Nupe (1991 R. Blench). Muslim.
