During the discussion with the church leader and the local communities, we discover that the population of these communities is about 900-1000 active speakers. This number is still a prediction since the communities use the term kepala keluarga (head of the family). There are around 300-600 kepala keluarga who actively use this

We will update the L1 speaker population for Lengilu [lgi] in Indonesia, for inclusion in the next edition of the Ethnologue.

Thank you for this information on the number of speakers of Lengilu [lgi] in Indonesia

This is somewhat surprising, since others have reported 10 or less speakers (Wurm and Hattori 1981 - 10 speakers, Wurm 2000 - 3 or 4 speakers). More recently (2019), Christian Mortensen reported "several dozen" speakers.
