ISO 639-3:
qvnThe 2017 census in Peru registered 13,839 Quechua speakers in Tarma, Junín, and Yauli provinces in the northern half of the department of Junín, where the language is spoken. Ethnologue has rather old data of 60,000 speakers from 1998, including 7,000 monolinguals from 1972. I would suggest updating the information and give an approximate rounded figure of roughly 15,000 speakers for 2017.
Editorial Action
We will update the L1 speaker population for North Junín Quechua [qvn] in Peru, for inclusion in the next edition of the Ethnologue.
