awrI conducted language survey on this area in 2007 and since then, I observed this village as I am closely working for the neighboring language group.
In 2007, Awera language was almost disappeared, having only one only native speaker who could give me the language data. No one speaks Awera now. So it is shifted already. They speak Indonesian ora Papuan malay.
Editorial Action
We will update the information for Awera [awr] in Papua, Indonesia to show that there are no longer any speakers, and update EGIDS and Language Contact accordingly, for inclusion in the next edition of the Ethnologue.
