Esimbi Passive
Dear Ethnologue editors,
I first said that there are no passives in Esimbi. But I have discovered that Esimbi does have a passive construction, though it is used infrequently. I have added this feature in the Grammar Sketch of Esimbi.
Sincerely,
Brad Koenig
Esimbi population
Greetings from Cameroon! Typesetting for the Esimbi New Testament was completed in 2021; printing and dedication are still pending. To facilitate the fundraising process for printing the NT, I did some research on the population. Here is my conclusion:
Estimated population: 55,000 – conservative estimate of the nationwide Esimbi population by Pastor Williams Joshua Kudi, a native of Esimbi who worked on the 2005 census. In January 2021 the Ministry of Public Health published an estimate totaling 37,975 Esimbi people in the Benakuma district (Ministry of Public Health. 2021. "Populations Cibles Prioritaires 2021." Yaounde, Cameroon: Ministry of Public Health), but this figure does not include all the many Esimbi people who live outside of the Esimbi homeland area. Other people estimate 80,000 or more Esimbi people nationwide, but those figures may be exaggerated.
Respectfully submitted,
Brad Koenig
We will add an ethnic population for Esimbi [ags] in Cameroon, for inclusion in the next edition of the Ethnologue.
