Arua, Nebbi, Nyadri, Yumbe, and Zombo districts: north of Lake Albert.

Language Use

Vigorous. Home, village, market. Used by all. Positive attitudes. Most also use English [eng]. Some also use Swahili [swh]. Also use Lugbara [lgg]. Also use Nubi [kcn] (Nakao 2018). Used as L2 by Gungu [rub], Kebu [ndp], Ndrulo [dno].

Language Development

Taught in primary schools through grade 3. Taught as subject in secondary schools, as ‘Lwo’, sharing materials with Acholi [ach], Jopadhola [adh], Kumam [kdi], and Lango [laj]. Taught as ‘Lwo’ at 1 university.
