Location

Gilgit Baltistan province: Hunza-Nagar district, Bakor village, Big Nagar, Gilgit, Mominabad village, Oshkandas east of Gilgit, Punyal, and Shishkat; mainly in Hunza valley.

Dialects

None known. Loanwords from Shina [scl] and Burushaski [bsk], but not mutually intelligible. Lexical similarity: 40% with Gilgit Shina [scl].

Language Use

Home. Elderly only. Many shifted to Burushaski [bsk]. Many shifted to Shina [scl]. Also use Urdu [urd].

Unwritten [Qaax].

Other Comments

Not all Doms speak Domaaki; most speakers concentrated in Mominabad and Hunza. Muslim.
