35 (Voorhoeve and Visser 1987). In 1987, there were a few elderly speakers but it is now probably extinct (Wurm 2007). Ethnic population: 50 (1984).

Location

North Maluku province: Halmahera Barat regency, Gamlamo and Gamici villages on north Halmahera island, Iboe river mouth.

Language Status

8b (Nearly extinct).

Dialects

None known. May be inherently intelligible with Sahu [saj].

Language Use

Elderly only. Shifted to North Moluccan Malay [max].
