Regarding:
Location
ISO 639-3:
lbj

The language Ladakhi is the primary language spoken in Ladakh Union Territory (UT) which was formed in 2019, when the Indian Government abrogated Article 372 of the Indian Constitution to revoke statehood for Jammu & Kashmir State and created two new Union Territories, namely Ladakh Union Territory and Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory.  Ladakhi is not spoken in China nor Western Tibet, but it does have some similarity with Changthang, the West Tibetan language spoken in Western Tibet.

Ladakhi is also spoken in neighboring districts in Himachal Pradesh (Spiti, Kinnauer, etc) as already noted.

Editorial Action

We will update the location for Ladakhi [lbj] in India, shifting it from Jammu and Kashmir to Ladakh (new since 2019), and will also remove Ladakh from China, all for inclusion in the next edition of the Ethnologue.
