Location

Amazonas state: headwaters of Ituí and Curuçá, near the Peru border; large groups in Atalaia do Norte city; smaller groups in towns of Cruzeiro do Sul and Guajará.

SVO in unmarked clauses, morphologically agglutinative, mostly dependent marking.

Language Use

Vigorous. Used in texting and on amateur radio. Used by all. Many also use Portuguese [por], especially youth. Portuguese is used in communication with outsiders by most men, and understood by some women.

Schools taught by Marubo teachers only. Taught as subject in some primary schools in grades 1–5. Bible portions: 2019.
