The 2017 census in Peru registered 740 Quechua speakers in the province of Corongo, Ancash. This calls for an adjustment and update of the figure that Ethnologue has at this point (4,000 speakers, including 1,700 monolinguals in 2000).

Editorial Action

We will update the L1 speaker population for Corongo Quechua [qwa] in Peru, for inclusion in the next edition of the Ethnologue.
