Mato Grosso state: between Cabixi and Pardo rivers.

Negaroté, Tawende. Similar to Lakondê [lkd], Latundê [ltn], and Tawandê [xtw].

14 consonants and 20 vowels, contrasting in nasality and creaky voice. Lexical tone.

Language Use

Strong language use in 3 of the 4 villages. Some young people, all adults. All also use Portuguese [por], particularly the youth in the Cabixi village who use Portuguese as their L1 (Eberhard 2009).
