The 2017 census of peasent communities in Peru registered 1,001 inhabitants in the four (4) communities in Pacaraos District: Pacaraos (314), Ravira (110), Vichaicocha (401), and Viscas (176).  The first three are listed as Spanish-speaking communities, and only the last one (Viscas) is listed as a Quechua-speaking community, with a population of 176 persons.  However, the same census registered only 128 Quechua speakers in the entire district of Pacaraos, aged 3 and older.  This information may serve to somewhat update the information offered currently for this language.

Editorial Action

We will update the L1 speaker population and the ethnic population for Pacaraos Quechua [qvp] in Peru, for inclusion in the next edition of the Ethnologue.
