NigeriaWhen it comes to the number of speakers and geographical domination, the Hausa language is a principal language in Nigeria. The most updated statistics released by the Ministry of Information and Culture stated that the language is becoming more and more a lingua franc in 19 States out of the 36 States of Nigeria.
Apart from being the largest language in the North, it is also widely spoken in the major cities of the Southern part of Nigeria. Nigeria is a country of about 200 million speakers, with more than 400 hundred languages, 60 to 70% speak Hausa.
