  • Dialectology

    • Even though the area in which Dakka is spoken is tiny, the language has four dialects: Dakka-Pelitakan, Limboro, Lengngo, and Tonrolima. We only surveyed the first one. 

    • Dakka-Pelitakan and Limboro are the prestige dialects. 

    • Limboro is very close to Dakka-Pelitakan. 

    • The people speaking Dakka-Pelitakan find the Lengngo dialect difficult to understand.

Editorial Action

We will add the 4 dialect names for Dakka [dkk] in Indonesia, for inclusion in the next edition of the Ethnologue.

We do a survey in 2020 in this community and during the Wheel of Vitality discussion, we discover that the younger generation uses Indonesian and a bit mixture of Dakka. 

So, the EGIDS of Dakka is 7.

Editorial Action

We will update the information on EGIDS and age range for Dakka [dkk] in Indonesia, for inclusion in the next edition of the Ethnologue.
