1,500 (Tourneux 2004). 40,000 all Kotoko languages (Tourneux 2004).

Location

Far North region: Logone-and-Chari division, south Logone-Birni subdivision, Zina area and east of Waza town.

Dialects

Jina (Zine), Sarassara, Tchide (Sede), Muxule (Muxuli, Ngodeni), Mae. People in Zina say they understand Lagwan [kot] and Musgu [mug] better than Jina.

Language Use

Some young people, all adults. Some also use French [fra], as language of public education. Also use Chadian Spoken Arabic [shu]. Also use Lagwan [kot].

Other Comments

Muxule may be a separate language. Glossonym: Mida’a and Da’a by the Mandage. Muslim.
