Language Development
Dictionary. Wendat is taught to adults at the adult education centre at Wendake, and to children at the primary school on the reserve, École Wahta’ (2021 M. Lukaniec).


After the Huron Confederacy was destroyed by the Iroquois around 1650 in a war over control of the fur trade, some Hurons settled at Lorette (Wendake), near Quebec City, the ancestors of present-day Wendats (Golla 2007).
